BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse has made a change to its beer club, which launched a little over a year ago.

An email sent to members explains that “a recent change in California law (SB-389) now prohibits all retail establishments from selling beer in nonmanufacturer-sealed containers such as growlers.”

So, as of the beginning of this month, the club’s unlimited $5 growler fills are being replaced with a 25% discount on all six-packs of BJ’s prepackaged beer.

The other beer club perks remain the same: Two exclusive beers (a 750mL bottle and a four-pack of 16-ounce cans); free upgrades to a 20-ounce pour when ordering a 16-ounce beer; a free large deep-dish pizza to-go; and a free appetizer and Pizookie when dining in.

Cost is $30 every two months.
