With the arrival of good weather, the population enjoys outdoor activities. However, this becomes a problem when waste is generated in urban areas.According to a study by Ball, 95% of Spaniards claim to clean and collect the rubbish they generate on the beach, in the countryside or in the park.Although 23% of those surveyed say they leave the waste on the ground next to the container when it is full and still want to recycle. In general, the Spanish population is aware of the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. This is reflected in the survey as three out of four say they separate waste even when they are away from home.In addition to this, when the containers and rubbish bins on the road are full, half of the population takes their waste with them until they find an empty container, since the rubbish found outside these generates rejection among the population, specifically 85% of respondents feel very or quite upset when they find garbage on the ground when going to outdoor spaces such as the beach, the field or the park. The latest data published by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge on the generation and management of municipal waste shows that Spain generated a total of 22.2 million tons of garbage, of which 51.1% (11.3 million tons) had landfill as their final destination, while only 19.7% (4.3 million tons) went to recycling and 18.3% (4 million tons) to composting, which highlights the need to create more recycling facilities.75% of those surveyed know that when they eat and drink outside they should be just as responsible and separate waste as they would at home.On the other hand, half of those surveyed confirm that they consume food and beverages in containers of maximum recyclability, in addition to using cloth bags to transport food.To a lesser extent, 42% intend to consume seasonal products and 32% use means of transport that are more respectful of the environment. In the words of Ball's Director of Sales for Southern Europe, Patricia Caba, "we Spaniards are concerned about the impact of our outdoor activities. In fact, selective collection and recyclability of packaging are key criteria for most of us. In this sense, the aluminum can is the ideal option: infinitely recyclable, light and easy to carry and collect. In addition, it keeps the drink fresh longer, which is essential in our outdoor activities."
